Ministry approves Cà Mau City bypass, construction to start this year

CÀ MAU — The Ministry of Transport has approved the construction of a  一 四km bypass around Cà Mau City on National Highway  一A.

Lê Thành Huấn, deputy director of the Cà Mau Province Department of Transport, said congestion is a regular feature in the inner city, and the bypass is expected to reduce the load on the highway.

It will link Ring Road No  三 and the Southern Coastal Corridor to create a complete transport network in the southern provinces. 

The Ministry of Transport’s Project Management Board No  七 has been assigned the task of doing a feasibility study.

The construction is expected to cost the Government more than VNĐ 一. 七 trillion (US$ 七 三 million), including VNĐ 一 九 二 billion ($ 八. 二 million) for land acquisition.

Of the amount, around VNĐ 五 五 billion ($ 二. 四 million) will be allocated this year.

The bypass will be  一 一m wide with a designed maximum speed of  八0km per hour.

Construction is scheduled to begin this year and be completed in  二0 二 二. — VNS
